Cornish Mining

The Heartlands Project

This grant will fund the sympathetic conservation of the internationally significant Robinson’s Shaft complex and enable the creation of a high quality visitor facility, a “Key Centre” for the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site, inscribed by UNESCO in 2006.

The development plans for Heartlands includes renewable energy such as solar PV panels and wind turbines to generate electricity. Opportunities to extract heat from minewater deep underground will also be explored.
