Värmland

Region Värmland consists of 16 municipalities. The largest in area is Torsby and the smallest is Hammarö. Of these 16 municipalities there are 14 participating in the ASPIRE project. These municipalities are: Eda, Filipstad, Forshaga, Grums, Hagfors, Hammarö, Kil, Kristinehamn, Munkfors, Sunne, Storfors, Säffle, Torsby & Årjäng.
The total energy consumption of Värmland is about 18 TWh. The proportion of renewable energy is estimated to be around 8 TWh, which equals around 44% of the total energy use. This renewable energy consists of biomass and hydroelectric power, which is generated in the county. The ambition of Värmland County is to further increase the use of renewable.
The Regional Energy Agency of Värmland is representing the region in the ASPIRE project.
